in Singapore, in a pushcart filled with dirty common coins (the largest rummage tray I ever saw) at the same price as an Italian aluminium 10 lira piece.

Rummage tray reminds me a great incident.
I was attempting to complete the set of three 2 Zloty coins issued over a period, by Poland, on Pope ( Now Saint) John Paul II. On my two visits  to Krak√≥w and one to Warsaw, I visited the National Bank but failed to get one of the three pieces. Finally managed to get it in a rummage tray in coin show at Volkenburg ( Netherlands).
