MEUNIER FRERES / PARIS

The only reference I can find is a chocolate manufacturer in the late C19th, founded 1854. Supplier to the royals. ::)
If it is related to this company, what would it be used for? A dock tally for bags of cocoa beans? It's rather utilitarian rather than a showy advertising piece. Or is it something completely different?
Your thoughts ladies and gentlemen please  ;D

Non! Pas Champagne!! ;)
Meunier Fils, yes.  Meunier & Cie or Meunier.  Oui. :P

There was a restaurant in Paris around the 1900s which may fit the bill.
46 Rue de la Chaussée d'Antin

Interesting 8)
The piece here has a value though.

Had a quick look through Elie under Restaurant le Meunier (Paris) and I don't think this is the same. Ref: R28.1-R29.1.

I did find a cognac maker elsewhere called MEUNIER FRÈRES though  8)
So perhaps a grape picker's token?  Which would fit given its valueless and rather plain.

An unidentified coin is a piece of metal. An identified coin is a piece of history.

Crikey, I didn't think there'd be any, very interesting. 8)
The cognac label is in English.  So perhaps a broker in Paris?

Whoops! To my chagrin, I realise that I've actually drunk this brandy. (A statement that can, sadly, be applied to 90% of the world's brandies. I may have a problem) From memory it was a lower echelon product but it does have some formidable big brothers.

Yes, the champagne/brandy Meunier Freres: certainly not MENIER & Cie (est 1816 as a chemist/pharmacist, incorporated 1854 as Menier & Cie: the chocolate was medicinal, and is still available as a cooking chocolate, http://www.amazon.co.uk/Menier-Dark-Cooking-Chocolate-Pack/dp/B0088B03FK/ref=sr_1_1/280-4700171-5760627?ie=UTF8&qid=1388503938&sr=8-1&keywords=menier+chocolate though it is now part of Nestle http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Menier_Chocolate

No not MENIER but possibly FRANCOIS MEUNIER the chocolate man (founded 1852.)  See reference to MEUNIER FRERES below (borrowed from ebay - supposedly dating to 1920.)

That last looks a likely proposition.
