Dear Jnite

60 Years of Alipore Mint was a smaller coin having a weight of 22.5 gms and dia of 39 mm.

Whereas the Coir Board coin has normal weight (35.0 gms) and dia (44 mm).

Sanjay

Got my Proof and UNC sets.
The packaging is similar to the Hyderabad Mint single Coin sets with the outer cover having a flip.
The design is very colorful and nice. The coins themselves are very nicely struck.

@Dheer,

Hapy to hear that u got ur coins, is there a way to track my purchase, will they update in site about  shipping or is it like I have to wait my postman ?.

dheer

@Naveen

Nope they don't update the status. You will have to keep an eye on the postman. I did online booking in the first week, so if you have done towards end, then you should get it in few weeks/months. By the looks of it there seems less demand of this issue so there would be fewer booking and hence you should get them sooner and it also means this can become rare very soon  >:D

Oh I booked on 10th June(I believe that is 2nd day after opening the booking), I am from South India, so my parcel will be slow due to Tamilnadu issue  ;D

dheer

Humm, second day then you should be in luck and get it anytime now ... yep the postal guy maybe in grief ... keep your fingers crossed  ;D

It seems that now only the Proof and UNC coins have some reasonably quality, where you can read the script on the coins.

But just look at the normal circulation coins - it is impossible to read the whole script - the strike is so weak and poor.

Yep the quality of quite a few issues is very bad. I think its too much work load for the mints, so to increase number of strikes, the may be keeping the strike pressure low and continue to use dies even after they wear out ...

Even in proofs one has to be lucky else at times the quality of the coins is plain poor
