Dutch motorbike medal
« on: November 03, 2013, 07:48:33 PM »
At least that's what I think. It's uniface although the back is dish shaped, probably from a cast. Non magnetic, 52 mm, 37 gr.
As far as I can tell the legend on the shield is:
OPGER 1904
NED. MOTORWIER VEP

Undoubtedly Dutch.

OPGERicht 1904 - established 1904
NED.erlandsche - Dutch
MOTORWIELeR VEReniging - motor club

In 1916, it obtained the right to call itself Koninklijke (royal) Nederlandse Motorrijders Vereniging (Dutch motor rider club). Its web site is here.

Its original purpose was to promote a corps of voluntary military motor riders.
