Just saw the design of the Mount Rushmore quarter....I was expecting to see the whole thing, not part of it.

George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln are carved into the stone.

I can't tell who they are showing on the design.

I have never seen Mount Rushmore in person but do recall the Hitchcock movie North by Northwest with the fight on Mount Rushmore.

I well remember the hair-raising end of Hitchcock's film. You are probably not old enough to remember the famous and punning album cover of the rock group Deep Purple, "Deep Purple in Rock".  :D

What do you mean I am not old enough?  I know that album - first one with the best Deep Purple lineup.

Speed King is a great song.

And here's me thinking you were just an egg when I bought that album.  ;D  "Child in Time" is my favourite - love that Hammond organ riff - followed by "Speed King".  ;)

The guy on the left is George Washington. :)  Ha, I was in SD in January one time; it was freezing cold (or "downright balmy" as one local put it) but we also went to see Mount Rushmore. Amazing, not just the site but also how deserted it was. Hardly anybody else was there, and the rangers in the information center were apparently glad about us visitors ...

The design is great in my opinion - yes, I would have expected to see "all four" as well. Then again there have already been several Mt Rushmore coins. So why not try a different approach and angle?

@josephjk

I guess they had done the 4 faces on the South Dakota quarter and wanted to change it up a bit....

There is also this half dollar from 1991:

At least with the South Dakota state quarter and the half dollar, you know it is Mount Rushmore.

I don't think that is the case with the America the Beautiful quarter.

Interesting how the expression on the faces on these two pieces is completely different. Yet, they may have been made from the same photo.

An unidentified coin is a piece of metal. An identified coin is a piece of history.

If you were looking across Lincoln from that perspective you would be looking at Roosevelt, Not Washington.
The face doesn't have a mustashe so it isn't looking from across Roosevelt's face.
That only leaves one possibility  ;)
