Coins images tempted me to think repeatedly about the  designer  of these coins what a skillful work . He has included even a minute details on these  coins.
The minute details may not be so visible on the actual coin which is just 27 mm in diameter  ;) But yes, the coins are really well designed...

Poland has been issuing 2 Zloty coins with this theme (The Animals of the World) since 1998 (one coin per year), and the earlier issues are quite rare these days, and may fetch $60 or more..

Yes, they can all be had at face. Keep in mind though that the specifications are quite different from those of the regular 2zl coins ...

Christian

AFAIK they don't circulate but I can confirm they are available at face value. I used to have a contact in Poland who acquired all these commemoratives/special issues but unfortunately he died.

I like the hedgehogs one (it's quite an early one in the wildlife series -- probably back in the 1990s).

Alpine Marmot is my most favorite animal on coins.  :)

Here's one on Swiss 10 Francs coin. Beautiful coin, isn't it?  8)

And this Polish 2 Zloty coin (2006) also shows Marmot. (sorry for small size of image)

I don't know who K is (I am <k> ), but I already chose a mole back in May 2009, when I was working undercover as "Galapagos". So, that choice is copyright, and I am fining you a 15 euro note. If you fail to send it by the end of this week, you will be kidnapped by helicopter and dropped down Germany's most active volcano.
