I am extremely lucky in my contacts, who allow me to use images of their coins.

I have recently added five new images to my web site in addition to the bun pennies recently featured.

They are 1854 and 1855 shillings, 1884 and 1889 florins, and an 1840 halfcrown.

The 1854 shilling image (small version attached) lent me by Martin Platt is of a coin in outstanding condition for any Victorian coin, let alone one of the scarce dates in the series.

See http://www.ukcoinpics.co.uk/qv to find these coins

Tony,
They surely are nice photos, especially of the 1854 1/- .

One day, when I get my computer problems sorted out,I will be posting up some photos of my 1905 2/6 & 1723 S.S.C. 1/- with the French Coat-of-Arms at the date.

Tony,
Those are very nice photos. How did you manage to find those very nice (& rare!) British pattern coins?

Have you thought about uploading them onto Wikimedia Commons as well?

Aidan.

Figleaf

Excellent idea to pair the pattern with the circulation issue. I find myself comparing them and agreeing with decisions to change the pattern. Surprisingly, no one thought the portrait was too ugly ...

An unidentified coin is a piece of metal. An identified coin is a piece of history.

I have many very helpful contacts - I do not purchase such expensive items myself; the coins I collect are mainly Roman Republic denarii, Victorian young head coins, and Canadian silver 5 cent pieces.

I have no intention of uploading anything onto Wikipedia.  My site is well known enough, and comes extremely high on a Google search (often first or second).  Besides, the images have been given to me personally for use on my website and are not for universal distribution.

I have recently added a large number of new images to my site.  Several coins of Henry VI, and I am delighted to say that I have one less monarch with no coins - a Harold I penny is to be seen at
