Recipe for making 2 minute PNC (Phila-Numismatic Cover)
« on: July 27, 2013, 11:41:07 AM »
I have been making my own PNCs for the Indian stamps and coins.

Here is the easy recipe for making your PNC.

Ingredients:

1.   First Day Cover (FDC)
2.   Coin on the same subject/theme as of FDC
3.   A Knife/blade capable of cutting a sharp circular hole in the FDC
4.   2 X 2 Coin holder of the appropriate size for the coin
5.   A stapler for stapling the coin in the holder
6.  Glue Stick

Method:

1.   With the help of the Blade/knife, make a circular hole in the FDC, taking care that the size of the hole made is between the size of the coin and the window size of the coin holder.

2.   Put the coin in the 2 X 2 Holder, and staple the coin. Alternately, you can also use the self adhesive type of 2 X 2 holder, to put the coin in.

3.   Now put the Glue on the edges of the coin holder, on both the sides.

4.   Slide the Coin holder (with the coin in holder) inside the FDC, so that the coin aligns in the center of the hole made in the FDC. If required, the coin holder can be trimmed, so as to fit the FDC, if the hole is near the edge of the FDC.

5.  Lightly press the FDC onto the holder, so that the holder sticks in place.

YOUR PNC IS READY.

Great Abhay.
Ya its quite easy to make one, but your illustration is wonderful and very apt for new collectors.
The PNC as hobby did not really pick up the stream ... but with individuals like you who are still keeping the art alive its good. Rather than paying dirt amount to others, its quite nice to make one and also it ties the coins to other collectibles very nicely ...

Great Stuff. Thanks for sharing.  :)
