Silver coin with some boat design, need help identifying
« on: July 13, 2013, 10:36:05 PM »
Hello All:

I have a coin with what seems like a boat design with 6 round balls?
The reverse side seems to have some arabic letters.

Would be nice to get some lead on this. I could not locate it on online catalogs.

Any lead / educated guess will be appreciated.

Regards,

That 'boat' is an Arabic letter S. It's an Indian coin, I suppose, maybe 17th century?

Without weight and diameter, it's hard. I've seen a lot of Indian states' rupees that looked something like that.

It's a counterfeit Chandori rupee, struck at Chandor. Full mintname: J'afarabad 'urf Chandor.
Attached the rev. of an original Chandori rupee.
