SIX RARE GOLD COINS FROM KNIGHTS' PERIOD UP FOR AUCTION NEXT WEEK

Sunday, 30 June 2013, 09:33

Six rare gold coins from the period of the Knights will be among the numerous collectors' items going under the hammer in the last two days of the Belgravia summer auction next week.

Other coins from the Knights' period in silver and copper will also feature in the auction, which starts tomorrow at 3pm, as well as British silver coins and international banknotes.

Also up for auction are a panoramic photograph of the Eucharistic Congress gathering in Floriana, a photograph by GC Cumbo of early aircraft pilots holding aircraft models, a Fenech photo of jockeys in the 1912 Derby Race, a bus conductor's numbered badge and several lots of military and officer uniform and cap badges.

Musical instruments and a small old valve radio, sought-after items these days, an 18th century manuscript note book of proven home recipes once belonging to Emmanuele Muscati – in poor condition but a rare find (one recipe describes a good method to 'whiten cotton') will also be going under the hammer.

Also up for auction are travel books, 19th century Maltese political history books, Paul Cassar's Medical History, philately and postal history items will also be included in the auction, as well as a rare Emvin Cremona actual size sketch for a stamp.

Viewings will be held tomorrow and on Tuesday. More details and the catalogue can be obtained from www.belgraviaauctions.com.
