A dishonourable first...
« on: June 13, 2013, 07:24:29 PM »
Last weekend I was back in the UK for all of 72 hours for a friend's wedding. In that time I acquired my first fake £2 coin. It is the right size and weight for the real thing and at actual size looks a lot more convincing than the image below suggests. The Cu-Ni section is too shiny for the degree of "wear" on the features and on the reverse it doesn't seem to fit properly in the brass ring. But it is numismatically correct and the edge is pretty convincing: the milling is a tad faint, but then it is on some genuine pieces.
