Fleetwood Pier Ltd

Here is an interesting token from Fleetwood Pier Ltd, this is bracteate steel, 33.5mm. 10.5g.

The 492 foot pier opened on Whit Monday 1910. A pavilion was added in 1911 and further improvements took place in 1930 and 1938. A projection room became a pier facility in 1942 and the decking was reconstructed in 1946. more here.

Nice token. I suppose we'll never really know how it was used.

With the off-center hole, it may have been a pass attached to a key chain or something similar.

Ideas welcome.

Maybe not, but in the link Malcolm provided, a bingo hall is mentioned...

It took a trip to Wikipedia before I found the nationality of the token.

I should have given it a British location, I knew it was  near Blackpool, Lancashire! so did not give it a thought. Fleetwood has been part of the Borough of Wyre since 1974, note the modern Wyre transport tokens.

It would have been issued much earlier when titled Fleetwood Pier Ltd, whereas the Bingo time is from 1972, then owned by Fleetwood Amusements Ltd.

An electric tramway link to Blackpool was constructed in the 1890s and remains operational to this day. Fleetwood lies at the northern end of the Blackpool tramway, which is operated by Blackpool Transport.

Fisherman's Friend—a menthol lozenge popular worldwide is made there!
