On the right side of Kanishka on the obverse it reads downwards : þAO KA-,  on the left side this continues upward (not visible) NHþKI making "Shao Kaneshki"
On the Buddha side the characters are difficult to distinguish. But the posture of the figure is unimistakeably Buddha.

I would not say that the majority of these coins is purely preserved. The really nicely preserved specimen are very scarce and even more very expensive.

I would love to see here a 1/4 Buddha unit in more or less descent condition, cant find it on the web :(
As for tetradrachms in good VF they are quite present on the market
