Hi...

Why do the mints in India release coins of values which cannot be used commercially /uncommon ...it is understandable that these are minted especially for collectors....is there any Legal provision specifying that coins should be issued in usable value even if it may for numismatic purpose....what is the legal provision in other countries... Just out of curiosity ;D...

The higher value coins are Non Circulating Legal Tender. I believe these are not notified by the RBI in their circulars on coin issues and are issued only by the mints.

Normally Mumbai mint opens up a test bookings to verify if the software is working fine ... most of the times in past the amount is dummy say Rs 50 ... and then they go offline before starting the real booking ... people who book at test phase loose the money unless they chase real hard  ;D

The http://igmmumbai.spmcil.com/SPMCIL/Interface/Home.aspx
is the next generation software to be used by all mints and currency press ...
however mumbai mint has not yet migrated to it ... so it would still be the old one

Just a query, I would be shifting my residence when the probable coin delivery period starts. So is it possible to get the coin in my new address by changing new address in my profile?  (I presume YES, just need to change 'shipping address' under 'update profile'). I did online booking.
