Can it be said that Kolkata Mint has also joined the Gang of Coin dealers? :'( :'( :'(

And why not, why should not they also take the benefit of prevailing high prices for Tukaram and Mookerjee sets?

So guys, now it is time to start depreciate the value of your old Proof and UNC sets. :'( :'( :'(

Abhay

i had told everyone when the first restrike came out that do not hold the expensive sets some of my buddies listened some did not.  i am telling everyone that if they have expensive sets now like bose crop science etc it is better to take the profit and move on otherwise the collection will become purely numismatic with very liitle value and negative rate of return.  There is nothing that prevents the mint from another round of restrikes 10 years later.   the price is not going to go anywhere

Earlier, the mint used to issue tokens alongwith the proof sets. The tokens contained the year of issue. This practice has been discontinued now. It will be interesting to see if the mint will issue tokens with restrikes or not. If yes; whether token will carry the year 2013 or 2001? ;D  ;D  ;D  ;D  ;D

I am also waiting to see if the Mint will use the word 'Kolkata' or 'Calcutta' on the packing. ;D  ;D  ;D  ;D

Going by the Crop Science I guess it would be Kolkata, however there was nothing official about that set ... and we don't have a true example to compare ...

Tokens would be an interesting story ... lots of bets ... anyone wants to run a contest ... whether token would be included or not ... and what would be the year on the token??

Personally I feel the Mumbai mint did a great job on re-mints, they did this without spoiling the look of the cover like the Kolkata mint did ... putting R-2010 on cover and obverse is really awful ... on the other hand, mumbai mint did a clean stuff on back by putting reminted by ... in the year 2010

There used to be a 'pure' coin collector few years back.
Then he came under influence of  bad company (buri sangat) of some misguided souls.  ;D  ;D  ;D  ;D  ;D  ;D
Due to this, he has also started fancying packing  ;D  ;D  ;D  ;D  ;D  ;D  ;D

if you book on the first  2 days and things go wrong you will really become a fool.  my friend had to suffer for 6 months for mother teresa set.  he spent over rs 1000 sending faxes , letters and phone calls to get the situation rectified.

BTW you have confirmed you are not an ordinary mortal none of us would even dream of booking today  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

my golden rule is to avoid the first 3 days and all weekends and book only during mint office hours so if there is a problem you can call them immediately.
