Got these coins today...it's such a fantastic feeling to get a letter full of coins when you have just come back from a (short) vacation. :)

No pics as of yet (I have some low resolution pics which I don't wanna upload ;D)

Monaco:

€1 (2002): Mintage: 512,500 (This is probably a spare copy I have now?!?);
€2 (2009): Mintage: 255,821.

San Marino:

€1 (2002): Mintage: 175,800 (Excluding sets);
€1 (2004): Mintage: 40,000 (Excluding sets);
€2 (2005): Mintage: 210,000 (Issued only in sets).

Some of these coins were indeed lucky additions to my collection (like SM €1 (2004) or €2 (2005) which was issued only in sets)..

A good day indeed! :)

Welcome home, Aditya. Like you, I got a little package yesterday that greatly cheered me up after a day of fighting officialdom. The prize was a wholly unexpected coin card, with a Hungarian coin for the Treaty of Rome with the design of the common €2 issues. The card features a building and forecourt with a similar sort of design. Now I have to know what building it is, of course. :)

BTW, didn't realize Hungary had put a crown on the base of the cross in its national arms...

Nice coin Peter! Don't forget that Cyprus also issued Treaty of Rome collector coins in silver (Proof, mintage: 5000) and copper nickel (uncirculated, mintage: 10,000), denomination: 1 Pound.

I'm not sure if the Cu-Ni coin could be had for face or not..

The Hungarian coin you showed has mintage of 2 million (unc) of which 12,000 are in blister pack and 15,000 are in official coin sets of 2007.

Since we are talking about Treaty of Rome coins, a nice surprise in the letter was the Slovenian version of ToR. :) It has the minimum mintage in the entire series (400,000 only)..It's definitely not rare or scarce, available easily but somewhat expensive. It was the only coin missing in my collection to complete ToR series and now I'm happy to have the entire set (not counting Hungary or Cyprus).. 8)

Let's see - the coin is about the Treaty of Rome anniversary. Where was the "signature ceremony"? Ah yes, here (note the photo and the caption). The Italian Wikipedia has an extra article about the Palazzo dei Conservatori here, with another nice photo. As for the pattern on the square, that was ... Michel-Ange. ;)

You could have had, or can have, another fantastic feeling any day now. ;D  Ah, I'm patient ...  Anyway, very nice additions to your collection of circulation (though not necessarily circulating, hehe) euro coins!

Got it. Had somehow thought the building was in Hungary. Been to Rome several times and somehow, I managed to skip this magnificent piazza. Another reason to come back. Thanks, Christian.

I am not a coin collector, Aditya. I am a gatherer. I accept what comes my way and what doesn't come my way. There's nothing systematic in my collection, I do not know what "complete" means and enjoy every coin equally, as they all "fit"in my collection. In fact, the fine intentions of the person who sent me the coin card are even more important to me than the coin itself. Your Slovenian coin is another great example. I remember the lady who sold it to me. She was anxious that I wouldn't complete the series, so she made sure I got one. Really sweet.

I'm aware of that! :D Will have to wait for a few days though..

With these new SM/MC additions, I think my (type) collection of SM/MC coins is bigger than Irish/Austrian Euro collection! ;)
