Triplanes are 1915. The battle of Jutland was in 1916. Mark V tanks are 1917. No connection with 2014. Or are we to believe that Gibraltar will not sell yet another series in 2018? ::)

An unidentified coin is a piece of metal. An identified coin is a piece of history.

If I see the many designs of planned coins and series which got canceled at last minute, I am sure it could be worse.
For example 18 coins were planned for the titanic, only 2 were issued.

This was the design that was submitted by Michael Guilfoyle for the design competition of the new 1 pound coin.

There will soon be a Norwegian coin (circulating commem) designed by Michael Guilfoyle. Soon, as in the first quarter of next year. Quote from the website:

"In 2024, Norges Bank will issue a special edition 20-krone circulation coin to commemorate the 750th anniversary of the national law code of Magnus the Law-mender. (...) Norges Bank invited five participants to a competition to design the anniversary motif on the coin's reverse side. The winner of the competition was Michael Guilfoyle, with the motif 'Seal'."

This is the design; embedded image from the central bank's site. Here I set the width to 400 px; the website image is 800 or so. I assume the portrait side will be the usual one.

Michael Guilfoyle is a highly talented and prolific designer.

Is this his first design for Norway?

Guess so; at least I do not know of any others. Here he simply says, "I have worked with private and government mints including The Royal Mint, The Central Bank of Ireland, The Mint of Norway and The Royal Dutch Mint." That could of course also mean he was involved in Norwegian design competitions before without being the winning design(er). :)
