I accidentally got along with Irish Decimal coins an Isle of Man 1991 2p.
It looks nice.

Kevin,
That is a very nice find. The 'PM' mintmark is located under the Queen's portrait,& the 2 die letters are located on the lower arm of the cross.

Not all die letters are listed in Krause for Manx coins. The same thing goes for Gibraltarian coins.I've got a 1989PM 5p. that has the die letters 'AC',which has never been listed in Krause.

The two partial images of Isle of Man 2 Pence coins on my page at...

http://www.wbcc.fsnet.co.uk/sub004b6.htm

are both of 1991 dated 2 Pence coins. "AA" can be seen in a different place on each coin.

Gibraltar 5 Pence 1989PM "AC" is in the latest SCWC (but not the previous ones). I have an example of it.

Thanks Mr Paul Baker

Figleaf

Pottery on a pottery wheel in the centre, knitting on top, spinning and weaving left, so what's right? The foot is too small for glassware. Also, I think I see at least two animals in the corners, but I can't make out what they are. The ELLAN MANNIN text in Celtic script is a nice decoration, but the 2 breaking through the circle is a miss, I think. If you need a large, legible two, put it in a cartouche on top of the circle or move it to the centre of the cross. Fun, to pick up such a piece from circulation.

An unidentified coin is a piece of metal. An identified coin is a piece of history.

Peter,
The inscription on the reverse is actually 'ELLAN VANNIN',which is the Manx language name for the Isle of Man.

The Manx language is actually the closest language to Scots-Gaelic than it is to Erse.

Here's a link; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manx_language .
