The image appears to be Italian as Cassa = Cash desk.

Always willing to trade.  See my profile for areas of interest.

Figleaf

Kassa was written as cassa in Dutch before the spelling reforms of 1954. The first word on the secondary headline on the poster is NIEUWE, which is certainly Dutch.

An unidentified coin is a piece of metal. An identified coin is a piece of history.

Henk

Peter is right, so it could be the Amsterdam Salon. If you have the original photo it would be nice to have a better scan to better read the poster. It is also nice to know if something is written on the back.

A nice photo it certainly is!

malj1

I don't have the original this was added to the description with the token.

Here is a clip of the poster

Unfortunately not very clear. The secondary headline seems to read "NIEUWEN PATHEFOON"  This certainly is Dutch, the added "N" is also old spelling. It would be very interesting to have a better scan, including one of the back. If you will ask the seller of the token I would appreciate that!

malj1

The seller responded by almost instant return.

I quote:
I found that picture while googling for the token.
I thought it was a great image, but don't have the photo in my possession.

Maybe you can find it with Netherlands google?

The seller found it here: http://www.geheugenvannederland.nl/nl/geheugen/view?coll=ngvn&identifier=SFA03%3ASFA002000489

The photo shows the 'Salon du Pathéphone' in Amsterdam. It was taken in 1914.

Thank you. Its the same at 105KB downloaded.

Google translate didn't do very well translating this for me perhaps you could do it for me?

google did not turn this up for me but Yahoo did, as the first item! The description with the photo reads: Platenmaatschappijen, platenhandel: De 'Salon du Pathéphone' in de Reguliersbreestraat te Amsterdam. Hier kon men voor 5 cent uit 2000 nummers een lied ten gehore krijgen. Nederland, 1914.
Fotograaf onbekend, Vervaardigingsjaar 1914, Fotocollectie Het Leven (1906-1941).

The photo on the link is a bit clearer. The second caption is indeed "NIEUWEN PATHEFOON" but I cannot read the rest of the text. It certainly is of the Amsterdam location. I do not think the date is correct as the Salon closed in 1912.

Here one could listen to a song, choosen from 2000 numbers, for 5 cents

The Budapest token remains elusive, I did however find it in a catalogue.
