As most of you know i wrote a small book about square coins from 1900-2000 and of course i collect square coins from that period
well for years i have been looking for the last coin to make my collection complete.

a 1949 2 pyas from Burma / Myanmar

So today I got it and i have this strange double feeling, on the one hand it is very nice to finaly have it, but it is also very sad as this is now complete.
I dont know maybe i like the hunt better then killing the pray

World square coin book 1900-2000

Simple solution: add another 100 years (or 50 or another number) to 1900-2000.

An unidentified coin is a piece of metal. An identified coin is a piece of history.

I can see what you mean  :o That's the problem with collecting coins where you know what is available to collect even if some are difficult to find I suppose
you will have to start something new, maybe coins with a centre hole or serrated edge or whatever  8)

Move on to collecting square tokens - this will be a unfinished challenge! [the reverse is blank]

I'll share my pie with you to start.

Have a look at  my tokens and my banknotes.

Prosit

Or coins with a hole in it....the possibilities are limited only by your interests.

Personally I like collecting all coins and some tokens and banknotes with the only true boundaries being what appeals to me.
And that can change day by day. Like a magpie, I often go for what glitters in the sun and catches my attention.

With that being said I do like defining some boundaries within that all encompassing catagoy. But even those aren't uniform.

You are, my friend, a lucky man.

here we are with our large and highly interesting project trying to find pictures of some catalogued coins and now, after a new discovery in one part of the world, discussing the location of the mint and indeed the actual spelling of the mint.

In another sub project we are locating mints on  a map BUT we are now unsure as to whether the advised spelling is in fact correct at all because with several of the advised coin mints no town, village or anything approaching that name in recorded history comes even distantly near the advised name. So back to an image, if available, to translate and start again.

Some researchers get it lucky, lol.

On a serious note, hearty congratulations on your success.
