Any good website to manage banknote collection online?
« on: January 14, 2013, 10:32:27 AM »
Is there any website like numista wherein I can catalog and manage my banknote collection online? I googled my requirement and got some obvious options but most of them aren't user friendly.

How do you manage your banknote collection? Every time I have to buy a new banknote, I have to manually check all the banknotes of that particular country that I have segregated country wise.

What all info. do you include? I think country, denomination, details, year should be good enough.
Warm Regards,
Mackie

Hi mackie

I have my banknote collection on Colnect too (as 'ynsman'), but I also keep a database record of my banknotes and coins in a programme called Cardbox. I have used this for over 20 years now through various editions, it is very easy to use, is very compact, holds unlimited numbers of photographs, unlimited record size, databases limited to only 16,000,000 records ;D, or the size of your hard disk. See www.cardbox.com.

That looks like a neat software, Alan but I would stick to colnect for time being as its simple and quick. Saw your banknote collection and its very impressive. Its incredible that you have collected more than 1200 banknotes. How long have you been collecting banknotes?

I used to collect banknotes a long time ago, but when I got married about 20 years ago I had to sell most of them (I particularly regret the good collections of German and Hungarian inflation notes), as well as several other collections of coins and orders and decorations, to pay for the deposit on a house.

Apart from the Chinese (which I had kept, and which are not all on Colnect because about 100 are not listed there) most of the rest has accumulated over the last four years.

Cardbox lets me keep a complete record, including those that are not listed on Colnect, and I can carry all the databases on a netbook when I go to coin fairs.
