Hello!
I have this coin for identification please, it is 18mm in diameter, almost as thin as a sheet of paper, but the metal is very strong. Thank you!  :)

Undoubtedly Venetian, probably late medieval. I have trouble reading the legend.

Meanwhile, here is a site where you can download free numismatic books legally. In the left sidebar, scroll down to "Coins Italy" and click on "Veneto, Friuli" or on "Handbooks, general works". I recommend downloading the Corpus nummorum italicorum from the latter page.

With your knowledge of French and Google translate you should be able to understand coin catalogues in Italian. Not all the links work as advertised. ;)

A Venetian tornesello for use in certain colonies by the looks.

I am unable to decipher the words on the coin but the arrangement of the pellets around the cross has me intrigued. If anyone can help with a full attribution I would appreciate it.

Good hint, Akona. I think I got the general type. Sesino of Venice, 16th century. The picture attached shows one in the name of Alvise I Mocenigo.

Found the name of the doge. It is in fact Alvise I Mocenigo (ALOYS MOCENIGO DVX VEneti). A highly satisfactory puzzle.

Thanks, can't remember seeing those pellets before on what I had studied many years ago.
