Hi,

Couple of Week ago i have registered on Rajgor's, they gave me the registration number day before yesterday and i received one catalogue of 1 Aution on 12/12/12 by courier.
Very good of paper used. one think i have seen in the catalogue the estimate price is given is very normal as compared to the other  Auctioneer .

Really impressed with the catalogue and first aution date 12/12/12 which is going to held Pune.

It really does not matter if you keep the starting prices low, because, after all, it is an auction, and not BUY IT NOW price.

The real price of a coin is known to the buyers/bidders, and hence, a costly coin, even if the starting price has been kept low, will always sell near its market price.

I agree collectors are smart enough to judge and compare estimated prices .

I was looking at the modern coins (I don't know much about Ancients, Mughals and Sultanate ones) and found every other coin described as either scarce or rare! Also looked at some of his graded stuff and found them to be totally misrepresented. Look at lot # 159 described as "Proof Like" and already has a bid of Rs 3500. This coin is a polished one and I have not been able to sell nice AU examples for 1/3rd of this bid! :o Well many people are going to get fleeced and all I can say is buyer beware!

Current bid is now INR 6600 (+Buyer's premium + VAT?). As I said elsewhere, it's nothing but a scam! Grade your own coin as MS-65 and then sell them saying it's graded by a TPG (!) as MS-65. >:(

Is it so tough to find coins in India that 1874 XF rupees are selling for over Rs 5700! I mean it is not like the fact that some of the coins have high estimates (in fact most seem OK), but people are bidding up like there is nothing else for them to spend money on.

The pictures of the "ungraded" coins are OK, but not great in detail by any standards - the "graded" coin pictures have terrible resolution. I can't really tell if the gardes are true/over/under.

I was going through the Conditions of Sale  of the auction and I noticed the following....point no.6....

The Auctioneer acts solely as an agent and shall not be responsible for any default either by the buyer or by the seller or for any action or claim which may arise in respect of any lot.

Caveat emptor ...typical   Buyers Beware clause...take care.....
