Latvia 1993 2-Lati
« on: November 15, 2012, 03:39:37 AM »
Another coin I got last week.  While not exactly a circulation coin I wanted an example.
It celebrates 75th Anniversary since the Decleration of freedom. 1918-1993

Edge Lettering "LATVIJAS VALSTS 75 GAD"

It came in a small case with a slip cover.  Does that mean it is the Proof example?
Looks like a Proof.

Nov 18, 1918-June 17, 1940, then the Soviet Period then August 21, 1991-Present.

Whenever you have a doubt, ask the Central Bank. :)

According to Central Bank, this is a proof version, struck at Rahapaja Oy, Finland. Artists: Aivars Kruklis (graphic design), Edgars Grinfelds (plaster model), diameter 24.35 mm, weight 6.00 g.

I have one such coin in Proof and one from circulation. Yes, they largely were in circulation in previous years.

It was circulation coin, but not long time. Because money falsificators like this coin, then It was removed from real circulation. Of course, if you have them, then you can to go to Bank of Latvia and receive 2,84 EUR today.
