This is not my coin and I am posting it on behalf of a fellow collector who is not a member here.

For those of you who follow eBay auctions, this finished last week. According to me this is a nice jeweler's token and bid high to assure myself of this piece. I was hoping to get it for at the most $25 but was surprised to see someone outbid me. I contacted the collector who is known to me and as per him-->

" The workmanship on this coin looks too good to be a token.  But again, I am not quite sure what it is, or how to attribute this piece (since it cannot be matched with any examples in Pridmore or Krause) till I get it in my hand!"

I disagree since I have seen similar pieces in 1/2 Rupee weight but the major clincher for me is the presence of a big upper dot in the left hand three decorative dots present only in such tokens. The regular issue coins from the mint have a smaller dot on the left and large one on the right. Note here the left upper dot is the same size as the right one.

The owner of this coin asked me to post here to get more opinions. Please comment.

Thanks! I had forgotten about this thread (and I had posted in that with some of my examples! :-\)

The first set of pictures of that thread will prove to the owner of this piece that the piece he won is indeed a token and I was correct.  :) Case closed unless someone gives some compelling reason why this is not a token.

They are interesting pieces for sure, I have only one of these but mine contains additional wording that shows instantly it's not an original issue

I agree with repindia that the piece is an imitation. Truly the imitation is a good one. I have pointed using locations using circle on my coins in which areas this piece vary.

Probably a copy, a very good one though.  The upper strokes on 'Alam' seem to be shorter than usual.  Also the flowers seem to be a bit irregular (non-uniform) and the five petal mark is stubbier.  Very good imitation though.
