Just picked up this book by renowned epigraphist I. Mahadevan.  The book is huge at a staggering 700pgs covering all aspects of Brahmi, Tamil Brahmi and Vatteluttu.  Tons of pictures and chock-full-of-history in regards to the early part of South Indian history.  Highly recommended.  It is part of the Harvard Oriental Series...

My suggestion is just like showing a lamp to the sun, but still you may also go through the YouTube channel of national mission for manuscripts
