AFAIK these Nordic gold 2 złote pieces don't circulate -- the standard circulation coin is smaller and bimetallic. The commemoratives are, however, available at face value from banks and are legal tender, so their status is similar to that of UK crowns and the earlier £5 pieces.

Correct, they do not circulate. Large amount of coins are in fact hoarded by collectors and dealers..(unlike US Presidential dollars for example which are neither hoarded nor circulate :D)

The high point in Piorun's career was valiantly/foolishly/bravely/stupidly attacking the nazi battleship Bismarck with gunfire (for perspective, Bismarck's main batteries were 16", while Piorun carried 4.7" guns - a bit like an adolescent fighting a heavyweight.) In the UK film "Sink the Bismarck", the incident is shown ending with the sinking of one of Admiral Vian's destroyers. This is nonsense.

An unidentified coin is a piece of metal. An identified coin is a piece of history.

Not that it matters much to the argument being made, but Bismarck's main guns were 15".
