Can you please upload some photos?

You should download http://www.photoscape.org first to help you edit the photos.

Aidan.
Aidan, you know how 'beautiful' the coin is. ;D The same old and boring design, with a new date. ;D
Do  50 paise coins dated 2004,2005,2006 exist? I haven't come across any..

I have the map and parliment variety 2007 in 2 mints. Calcutta and Noida. I haven't seen 2007(B) in this variety. This should also be the last year for this variety. The next series is the clench fist. I can confirm 2008(C), 2008(N), 2009(B) for the next variety.

Cheers,

I do not think that the 50 Paisa coins were minted in the intervening period.

Can anyone confirm finding a 2003 dated KM# 69 ?
Krause lists it but I haven't found a single one.

I will check up my hoard when I have the time but I do think that i have them. On Jinadatha site on Indian Coins, he lists the issue from Calcutta mint only and no issue for 2004 and 2005. He lists 2006 the Nitrya Mudra series coins (infact he lists all 3 series - cross variety, IT and Nitrya Mudra from Calcutta) for 2006. I have not seen any 50 Pais of 2006 but have the regular issue of 2007. 2008 onwards, it is the Nitriya Mudra series.

Amit,

His site lists the coins in all 3 varieties like you said but no image. I am a bit skeptical.

Here is some more information on the issue from Gullak, a newsletter by Reesha Books:

quote Did You Know? Bharatnatyam in your Coins

The new coins introduced by the Government of India were designed by Mr. Anil Kumar Sinha, a graphic designer who teaches at the National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad. He has devised blueprints for the new 1, 2, 5 and 10 Rupee and 50 Paise coins. Sinha drew inspiration for these coins from Bharatnatyam. These coins have a woman's hand in various Mudras. One of the guidelines he was given was that the coins should suggest that they are from India. Sinha pointed out that as Bharatnatyam is universally known and contains the word Bharat, it made sense to have Mudras. However, not many people are in favor of these coins for a number of reasons. unquote.

There are pictures of the entire series from 50 Paisa to Rs 10.

Amit,
I ended up getting my account closed over there,as my computer played up there when I used to visit.

It's a shame that Jinadatha doesn't get his whole website redone, including the forum,so that we don't have to worry about getting viruses.

Perhaps, that is where the virus that clapped out the old hard drive came from.

Back to Indian coins,1 Rupee is worth around 3 Cents in New Zealand currency,so 50 Paise is worth around 1-1/2 Cents - absolutely nothing, considering that New Zealand's smallest denominated coin now in circulation is the copper-plated steel 10 Cents coin!

You are right there, but I have never found this coin circulating anywhere.I bought my piece for 10 Rupees(20 times the face value!) :'(

Aditya,
That is 20,000% above the face value!

It sounds like the 50 Paise coin is now an extremely scarce coin.
