Very nice coin !
on upper picture we have : "zarb Tiflis" / Georgia .
may be somebody will give a ref. n° ?

Saro is of course correct with the mint but I would have thought the coin may have had a date on it. The obverse appears to be close to a known obverse but without a date I am unsure.

Can you give a weight.

Coins from Tiflis are not common by any means in general.

I am purely guessing because there is no date.

Georgia, Kingdom of Kartli and Kakhetii: Erekle (Heracles) II AH 1176-1213

Well observed Peter, for the date !
I think it could be better "8" (or 18 ?), the dots seem to belong to a 3 dots ornament. May be a regnal year or a coommemorative year?

An abazi KM10 dated 1166 (anonymous issue) with  similar  legends but with different ornaments, is catalogued.
(my ref. is an old KM n°, may be it has changed now?)

Instead of the AH date , at 12 o'clock (over "zarb Tiflis"),  there is here  a small cartouche in which, I think, we can read : "Tahmur(az)", the persian script for Teimuraz.

So, If I am correct, and if the weight is c. 3,0g, it's here an abazi of Teimuraz dated ry. 8 (AH 1165)  ( ry.18  fits with Teimuraz II & Herekle II : 1175 which is doubtful ?)

Please correct me if I am wrong.

One of those interesting coins.

Using Album's checklist (the last one not the recently released one) I have noticed he remarks that the 1166 is shoody clligraphy for 1199 (loops left open). He also notes that Teimuzaz 11 had no silver but that may now have changed on review.

I am unable to quite make out what you say about the cartouche.

Is that a '2' to the right of Zarb?
Would make it x182 which would fit with this ruler.
always willing to trade modern UK coins for modern coins from elsewhere....

Dear Akona, sorry for my late reply : I was wrong for the reading of the cartouche ! it was just tentative... :-\
Since your post, I am now able to give the good reading : it's the evocation "ya Karim" (and not a ruler's name as I thought).
This coin is then a Georgian anonymous issue.
The question of the datation is still opened.

My dear Saro,

Thank you for that.

Yes it is as you say, anonymous. But the weight would be interesting. Some of the fractions are very scarce.

Thanks folks for your valuable time and expertise. It's amazing to see this kind of talent on this forum.

The weight of the coin is around 4 grams and diameter approx 24 mm.

Hi all,

This is the silver coin of east-Georgian kingdom of Kartl-Kakheti, anonymous, except for the invocation "ya-Karim", but temp. King Erekle II (1744-1798). Mint Tiflis, date 1182 (AH).

Best,

Figleaf

We found the 82 of the date, possibly 182. Is the full date on the coin?

yes, 11 to the left from the 3-dot-element on the left side of 8
