Today Juan de Nova is part of the French territory of the Îles Éparses (Tromelin, Îles Glorieuses, Juan de Nova, Bassas da India and Europa, all 5 surrounding Madagascar), since 2007 belonging as the 5th district to the TAAF (Terres Australes et Antarctiques Françaises).
On the island actually there are some soldiers of the French navy, as the island's possession is also claimed by Madagascar.
In the first half of the last century there was a small phosphate industry of the French company SOFIM (Societe Francaise des Iles Malgaches).
Tokens were in use like the shown one. Host coins were French and French Colonial coins.
The mark -P- above the SOFIM stands for phosphate.
This token is not catalogued anywhere!
The coin is - until now - not in my possess.  :'(
If it would be once mine, I would not sell it.
But: What would you offer/pay for such a coin? Answers by PM are very welcome and would help me a lot!

Best regards, Afrasi
