1835-Madras East India Company Half Anna KM#447.1 PR#133. I love the nice brown color on this coin. The coin is virtually mark free. This coin is common in low circulated grades but is very rarely seen in this condition. A very tough coin in this state of preservation in my opinion as the large size of these coins almost alway kept them from being mark free when kept together. Let me know what you guys think and share pics if you have one.

Thanks
Bhushan

Yes such coins of year 1835 are quite common & widely available , however getting such series of 1835 in higher grade is bit challenging.

Cheers ;D

These are extremely difficult to get in UNC grades. Congrats on acquiring both. The eye appeal on the second piece is not so great but still a scarce coin. Would you please look closely and tell me whether the shield on the obverse is flat or convex? For Madras (I think , from memory) the shield is flat and for Bombay it is convex, but it seems to be convex on your higher graded example.

Vikram, you bring up an interesting point. I was thinking about the attribution on the 65 coin but even the 63 has convex shield which appears flat in the pic due to the angle of light.
Thanks for comments on the coins. The second coin is actually pretty nice in hand with decent luster which I could not capture in the pic.
