Who was asking about apples and oranges ???

It is solely a point of view about cleaning nothing more, nothing less.
It is rather sad when all you care about is the value of what you have - you end up knowing the cost of everything and the value of nothing.

Hmmm...Come on now Andrew... The question from tanka was abundantly straight forward... What is the grade ? ....and the answer was given to that extent... Let's not make this personal. That defeats the purpose of this thread.

I read this thread with interest and would say that there is truth in what Peter says. What Bhushan says is right to some extent but we all should not discount the wisdom brought in by experience. I do not have the experience Peter has but have seen many coins which seem problem free to me (and many graded by third party grading companies too), but on giving them a long soak in acetone the cleaning below them was revealed. There are atleast one coin which I had in NGC holders having spots which I wanted NCS to remove to improve appearance and once those guys treated them they came back looking very nice but in details holder.  :-[ This was an expensive coin and I learnt my lesson on what type to collect. Many of us are younger than the time senior collectors have been collecting and my request to the young turks of the forum to show some respect to the senior experienced collectors. Thanks.
(For the record I am a not a senior collect but not a young one either! ;))

... and this has been a life time experience for me... I shall not ask for grade again in my life :D
