Someone is offering me 1946 Half Rupee coin Struck in Copper (OMS) instead of Nickel but I am not too sure about its originality whether such a metal error was struck. On the seeing the coin it does not appear to be a fake. Need advice from the forum members whether this error coin was ever minted and if it exists then what should be a fair price............

The same can be confirmed by comparing the images of an original Cu-Ni Coin with that of Copper coin listed.

Just note the Thickness of Vertical Stroke of "F" in half. It is not constant in copper coin. Also note the spacing of letters in the copper coin, which appears to be more, as compared to Cu-Ni coin.

Two other differences that are easy to spot:

- the hindmost paw is covering the line on the original, on the line on the copy.
- the left upper corner of the first E in RUPEE is sharp on the original, rounded on the copy.

An unidentified coin is a piece of metal. An identified coin is a piece of history.
