Congratulations ! Quite an achievement.

Can you still do some final editing on the proofs ? On the page you show in the second picture i could not help noting two small spelling errors ("sucsesfull" and "designsed").

why is this book not square?   :)

Congratulations are in order I think.
How long did it take to put together?
always willing to trade modern UK coins for modern coins from elsewhere....

Yes, congratulations on becoming an author.  8)  I too must have a copy of this book. Squarecoinman is a pioneer in documenting this area, I think.
Visit the website of The Royal Mint Museum.

Thanks for the congratulations , what happend is that i was working with deadlines and the person whom helped me with editing the book ( read taking out my mistakes)  lost his father , so I had to find the spelling mistakes , and here i made a big mistake , I edited my own text and looked for mistakes, however i did not check text i got from mints or national banks , and this case it is from a big fashion house .   But still my mistake I should have found a solution .

However as anybody knows in the world of coins errors are more expencive and rare

Thank you andyg , the reason why it is not square is 1 cost and 2 I did try a square design but it looked ugly
all in all it took about 1 year of work, This is of course not 37 hours a week , but it is very time consuming
I did try to check all the data, this means writing to all National banks involved all mints involved , often they would not have the data or would not write back , In wich case i often would use the freedom of information act , or personal handwritten letters to the national bank directors ( this helps ) .
Some national banks would copy Km or at least I would have that feeling.
and in some cases i used Danish representation ( embassy ) like in Bhutan to get a letter to the direction of the national bank,
all in all 2000 emails and letters.
Next to that it was taking pictures of the coins and getting copyright issues in order , some coins i did not have so i got some help from members here Like from Tanka with a coin that is not in KM , and also K gave me the idea to ask for non realised designs from teh Royal british mint ( thanks to both of them ) and Peter helped me with 2 pictures of the 2 coins i did not have in my own collection.

Then i had to setup the layout , since i did not have money to pay for this , and i used a free program for it , but i had to learn everything from the start.  at the same time jugling with the cost side.
and hostile national banks or mints or simple crazy situations like in the Netherlands where the total archive of the mint is by the geldmuseum and they fired all the staff that could help. also they never answer emails .  Lucky enough there is a lot of ducth books , magasins and friendly people also in the finance ministry.

It is a adventure with ups and downs , but I would do it again tomorrow as i would like people to know about the square coin designers , the value of the money when it was made, the extra details you can not find in KM etc etc.

Now the book is home and i would like to get Libraries to buy the book , I know that in some countries you can suggest your local library to buy a book.  If anybody has suggestions or better can contact the local library and suggest to buy

World square coins 1900-2000
ISBN 978-87-91472-01-5
Thirdplanet Publishing
info@atm-art.com

Then that would help a lot, of course it would be nice if libraries would have it as more people would maybe get interested in Numismatics ( and maybe even square coins )

Thanks

Congratulations, scm. I am way behind reading and writing internet stuff because I am authoring a document. Not the first time, but much longer than usual and footnotes and a bibliography. All that to say that I have some idea about how it feels to get a weight like that off your chest.

For marketing, try writing to CGB. They are big on coin books and among the very few in this country that will sell books in a language other than French. If you wish, I have the email addy of the head honcho. Make sure you contact Mevius numisbooks also.

An unidentified coin is a piece of metal. An identified coin is a piece of history.
