Shah Jahan, Dam, Mint Ahmedabad, AH 1044 RY 8 ? Ref: KM#206.09

I seem to have got this one correct. A Dam of Shah Jahan minted at Ahmedabad in AH 1042. I cant seem to be able to read the RY. Please confirm. KM#206.09

Dear Amit, mind you verifying the date again? Such early dates for Ahmadabad are not known and those with the date -/Ry.6  (LMC.2429) and AH1044/Ry.7 have the Ilahi month above the mint name.
From AH1044/Ry.8 (half dam), resp. 1045/Ry.8 (dam) the Ilahi month seems to be abolished on the coins. Your coin is of the type without the Ilahi month and therefore the AH-date should be 1044 or later. To just from the image the last digit looks like a 7 rather than a 2. The regnal year within the loop of seen of falus is not readable, but nevertheless I would suggest AH1047 to be the AH-date.

Under a magnifier, the date looks 1044 rather than 1042.......

Well with the coin in hand you may better judge. If it is AH1044, the combination could be AH1044/Ry.8. This type and date of a dam is known.

I showed the coin around to a couple of known Mughal 'experts' and the date as read by all was 1044. So I presume, it is indeed AH 1044.
