The letters are pseudo-Arabic. Probably western made in GB, F or D.

Thanks for that.

So "writing" that only looks like it might Arabic to those who do not know any better.... but actually it is just a design styled to have the look of Arabic writing.... So I assume there is nothing that anyone will ever be able to read.

It does not seem I have much chance of placing this one then......

Has anyone seen a similar piece before ?

Thanks Mr Paul Baker

What size is it? is it thin, lightweight, like the Turkish style brass sequin types?

Nothing in 'Toy Coins' apart from the brass sequin type mentioned.

Purely guesswork, but if a casino would organize a "Shehrazade" night for its customers, it may have gone through the trouble of making these. I don't think it's French, evem though it seems to be loosely based on Moroccan coins. There have always been enough Arab speakers around in France to do the real thing. Not aware of many UK and German casino tokens. Belgian, maybe?

An unidentified coin is a piece of metal. An identified coin is a piece of history.

Size...

20.5mm - approximate diameter

Thickness - a touch thinner than an Australian 5 Cent piece.

Darkened/toned brass.
