You'll find security grooves on other types of tokens also. I think the reference is to an Italian patent.

If you look at the website for the city of Lincoln in the UK the address starts with tmf. So I wonder if that is the connection.

tmf Lincoln is listed in a supplement to 'Machine Tokens' Hayes 379A the issuer being unknown.

Google brings up a address for Lincoln City Council - http://tmf.lincoln.gov.uk/index.asp - which includes the tmf  ???

Yes, there's no connection with the city of Lincoln, either through the logo or otherwise and the use of TMF in the url remains unexplained. I'll settle for the description Hayes gave. Thank you, gentlemen.
