Ferry ticket

My favourite ferry ticket is this Scottish FIFE AND MIDLOTHIAN FERRIES No. T over 403 in heavy copper with blank reverse approx. 43 X 26mm. with cut corners.

Beautiful token. Where in Scotland was it used? Is the metal Brass, copper or bronze.

I imagine it refers to the Queensferry ferry, which crossed the Firth of Forth roughly where the Forth Road Bridge now is and stopped operating when that bridge opened in 1964.

It is in copper and quite thick. I have seen it attributed to Queensferry.

Smith and Smith (1981) list a similar piece, but round, brass, 29 mm.
