Hungary, 1 liter beer

This token (aluminium, 1.7 grams, 2.0 mm) is practically identified, but good fun. Th obverse identifies the issuer as the Pannonia brewery in Pécs (PSP). The reverse gives the denomination as 1 liter of house beer. I hope there's no 10 liter token ;)

I just don't know what the date 1886 refers to.

After a search I now know...
Among the most influential factories of Pécs are the Pécs Beer Co.....The characteristic features of even today's city centre are the inner gardens behind the buildings.
The zigzagging streets, the fruit-bearing fig bushes....


So there is lots of Figleaf here but as to the date 1886 I can only speculate that perhaps they built a big new factory at that time.

Thanks for taking the trouble, Malcolm. One day, we may have a separate board for beer tokens and the students of the world will flock here. ;)
