I would like to share picture of my Bengal Presidency Half Rupee. The coin is identified as KM#105 but as per SCWC KM#105 has vertically milled edge but this coin has obliquely milled edge with right grain. I think SCWC has an error.  >:(
According to Pridmore it's Pridmore no 158. Mintname is Murshidabad but stuck at Calcutta based on privy marks. Stuck in 1793 after AH date of 1202 was removed from coinage. Stuck in the name of Shah Alam II.
Other than the condition I fell in love with the toning on this coin.
Any more information on the coin is appreciated. Please share pics if you have one.

Thanks
Bhushan

Dear Bushan, a very attractive coin indeed. You correctly attributed to Pridmore #158. On ZENO I listed the first series of milled rupees, viz.: Pr.#153, Pr.#156 and Pr.#157.
The KM-catalogue is not reliable for these issues and one should refer to Pridmore.

Oesho, thanks a lot. The coins you linked to on Zeno are all very nice. I especially like Pr#153. Love the edge cording on that rupee. I believe the Bengal Presidency coins are some of the most complicated to attribute due to minor differences and privy marks which are clearly overlooked in KM catalogs. I have been lucky to get my hands on the Pridmore's books recently.

Thanks
