Dutch East India, Lead Doit 1793
« on: June 12, 2012, 09:45:31 PM »
Tried some cleaning of this coin from my junk tin. seems to be a possible scarce or rare Lead Doit of the Dutch East Indies
I think it has a countermark, here is a scan of a page showing a similar coin

weight 5.88g    19mm Lead

I think I'll attempt a bit more cleaning to expose the countermark

I just "found" the following coin in my "tin box".  ;)  It wants to be a leaden Duit of 1789. But I think it is a fake, as the material seems to be lead-covered copper, which shines through at some parts of the coin.
5.92 g
23.3 - 25.3 mm
