New Olympic coin
Canwest News Service, Published: Thursday, April 17, 2008

The Royal Canadian Mint released the second Olympic 25-cent circulation coin of 2008 yesterday, celebrating the sport of freestyle skiing.

The coin is the seventh of 17 total coins to showcase the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games in Vancouver. Up to 22 million freestyle-skiing quarters will enter circulation, designed by Vancouver artist Glenn Green.

Two more Olympic 25-cent coins will enter circulation this year, for figure skating and bobsleigh. A 2008 Lucky Loonie will be launched in the summer.

The mint is also responsible for the creation of the athletes' medals.
