Akbar half Rupee
« on: April 07, 2008, 05:27:19 PM »
The coin, like many that I'm purchasing, has been harshly cleaned.  Forgetting that, it is a lovely speciman; made with care and attention to detail, it weighs 5.6 grams.
In the Coin Cabinet, I was able to spot another Akbar Rupee similar to this one.  That one was minted in Ahmadabad, but not other information was included.  Is that true of this one as well?

Yes, I now see that they are the same.   ::)
Because my skills at reading Arabic and Persian are nil (well, almost nil; I can "read" Allah in this case), I pay more attention to presence and absence of mint and reignal signs and borders.  I think that they are delightful coins. I'm pleased to have a second of this type.
Thanks,
