A US colonial era Fugio cent. This was actually a design concept from 1787 for an eventual Federal one cent coin. The design and mottos are from Benjamin Franklin.

1776 Continental Currency pattern for US dollar coin struck on pewter. Design by Benjamin Franklin / engraved by Elisha Gallaudet. Probably struck in New York by unknown person.

This example has a fascinating story behind it. It was found in a junk box at a Paris fles market in June, 2018 and bought for 50 cents Euro,. Estimated value...$100,000.

And that's the problem with tracing old colonial issues...contradicting evidence or none at all. Poor or no record keeping, speculation, and downright fabrication of "facts" run rampant in the research. I've cobbled together what I thought was reasonable and presented it, however i didn't engage in a long protracted investigation. As always in my research, I don't feel as though my conclusions are always the correct ones and don't claim so. I'm always happy to see other alternatives.

The interesting thing here though is the way this example was discovered. Now that's fun. Thanks for the link, Andy.

Another US commemorative...1938 Oregon Trail Memorial half dollar. The coin was engraved by the husband and wife team of Laura Gardin Fraser (obverse) and James Earle Fraser (reverse), both highly talented artists.

Imperial British East Africa company made these coins in 1888 and 1890 with the Sun on them

also the USA started out with her first trial coins before the actual continental currency with a coin with the sun on it 1783... the quote in Latin is a new constellation (or new sun) has risen...
Great coin. I want myself the same

My coin from San Marino.  I mainly bought this coin for the coins with insects collection.  I really like the sun design too...
