New Commemorative Issue: 2012: 60 Years of Parliament

[The Oracle]

The coins will be commemorative in nature as they will be issued to commemorate a certain event. However like some earlier commemoratives likes Rajiv Gandhi, Bio Diversity, Small Family, Girl Child, Ambedkar etc mints may not issue Proof & Unc sets.
A pack of two circulation coins is not ruled out

The Tsunami LAHAR of  Mumbai can easily convert the Parliament coin in another LVR

Wow! That is an impressive building - is it circular? I've been to Delhi but never got a chance to go there

Yes, the building is circular. That entire area (Raisina Hill) is fantastic. I was there about month back, and the parliament session was just over so there were rather strict security arrangements. And after terrorist attack on parliament, it's forbidden to go very close to the parliament building. That's why you see many other things like signal.

I can post few more pics of that area if anyone is interested (in separate thread of course!)

If terrorists want to attack it, you know parliament must be or do something right, to be so irritating to the fanatics.

 Parliament was attacked in 2001...because of a few brave security ersonnel and one particularly quick thinkjng door man who locked the entrance to the floor of the house, we did not have a massacre....And that resulted in operation parakram... We were one step short of war apparently at that point

.... That said, parliament is definitely not doing much right... There are important legislations hanging fire, but the gov t  and opposition d much rather scripted choreographed adjournments of the house much too often

Rajya Sabha has already been adjourned. Lok Sabha will also be adjourned shortly. A joint session will be addressed by the President in the evening. The coin will be released during the joint session..
