unidentified cash-like coin
« on: May 01, 2012, 07:31:09 PM »
Today I acquired this cash-like coin. It was in a small lot I bought.

Could someone give some more information? Diameter is 24 mm, weight unknown.

Thanks in advance,

Bart

I received on another forum the following information: with The Eight Tigrams on the reverse it is a charm.
The inscriptions translate as: "may your comings and goings be in peace" : chu ru ping an 出入平安

Sorry I did not get to this before. Yes it is a charm with the Buddhist or Taoist expression that can be translated in the manner described.

As a Buddhist I prefer "to have peace and stability where ever you go".

Used in modern Feng Shui as a decoration.

I am somewhat more interested in why such a reverse is on the charm.

No I understand. The reverse is a maze and as such traps evil spirits and allows the traveller to travel in peace.

For those who believe a powerful charm indeed.
