What a beauty!! I'm still looking for my 1857 quarter anna.. 1858 quarter anna comes with single leaf and double leaf varieties.
Thanks for the compliment! FYI the 1857 also has single and double leaf varieties. I will try to post my 1857 double leaf variety when I get to the picture of the same.

I'm a little confused, isn't the coin you posted the 1857 double leaf variety?

Have any of you heard about the date variety for the 1858 1/4 Anna, the high date and the low date?

One way to spot it is to draw 2 imaginary lines connecting the top ends and bottom ends of the ribbons near the date Then look at the last 8 from the date 1858,  if its above the top line it's the high date variety if its below the top line and near the bottom line it's the low day.  Incidentally the low date is a scarcer variety.  Both Bhushan's and my coin are the high date variety.

Harry, thanks for this information. I was not aware of this variety.

Imaged my 1858 coins too today. Apologies for the bad pictures.
Here is the single leaves variety. The coin is a gem BU example and luster is blazing in hand.

1858-W East India Company Quarter Anna KM# 463.1. The coin is a common one but finding one in this condition is little difficult. This coin has ample red with swirling mint luster. The coin does have a few dark spots but is beautiful in hand. Let me know what you think about it.
As always share pictures if you have one.

Thanks
Bhushan

words fail me i have never seen this coin in this condition.  life has changed in the past few years i guess

Thanks. There are a few of these in gem grade to go around. There was a 65 red in the Heritage long beach auction which I resisted bidding on as I had already overspent. It was nice and properly graded in my opinion but red copper scares me. ;)
I just found the 2 leaf variety yesterday in 63 brown and was glad to get it at a decent price as I have not seen one offered in MS inlast 2 years.
