Shah Jahan, Dam, Mint: Bairata, Ref: KM#206.2
« on: April 07, 2012, 11:35:20 AM »
Amongst a lot I picked up recently, I found the following two coins of Shah Jahan, Mint Bairata, The second coin seems to be dated 1039. Please help confirm and also inform if it is possible to read the date on the top coin. Is it 1041? the 1 seems to be clear........

Yes, all three issues of Bairata in the name of Shah Jahan.
On left images the legend is: sahib qiran sani
The reverse legend: zarb sanah (AH-date) baraita.
For similar issues see ZENO #101729 and #101730
Later in the reign of Shah Jahan a different type of coin was issued, see ZENO #101728
