Another repro?
« on: March 12, 2012, 11:43:11 AM »
Members of the French language Numismatique forum have not succeeded in identifying this item.
Can you help them in the spirit of numismatic brotherhood?
The same chap seems to have bought a few pieces of unknown origin / status.
Many thanks  ;D

Diameter 23mm

Little bit of clean-up in the unidentified items section.
The sender of the original identification request on the French forum never responded to questions for extra information.

This object is clearly modelled after a di-shekel, issued under Mazaios (ca 330 BC) from Mesopotamia, Babylon mint.
The general aspect and mushy details make it highly likely this is a low-quality modern reproduction.

Makes perfect sense, TH. Thank you.

Peter
An unidentified coin is a piece of metal. An identified coin is a piece of history.
