Hi all,
I know this post is nothing new to most of us but I didn't find any thread showing the crown varieties in 1 pice(holed) coins 1943-1947(except 1946).
So here it is . Do comment

Nice coins Abhishek! I've read that the 1943 round crown type coins are more difficult to find.  Are there any other key dates or mints in the 1 pice series?

abhinumis

As evident from the pic 1943 pice comes in both high crown and small crown varieties.. The lettering of the small crown variety is also smaller. Other dates are not too difficult to find although I find Lahore mint ones in lesser numbers

Oh its new to me, I would love to hear about these coins. They seem to be largely ignored, uhmm... by me at least!  I hear that they were used as washers, is that correct? What are the scarcer variety and are they difficult to find? I have never looked for them.

Yes, they were used as washers in what I've heard from my grandfather.. 1943 small crown variety is not found very easily but other than that I did not find it difficult to collect these ones(lahore mint ones are found in lesser quantity)..

Also read that the reason for the hole was to save on metal during the war when copper was getting scarce

Makes sense to me!

Saving metal was the reason behind the hole.. But that has made this coin unique. One other princely state to do this was Hyderabad..

Also the portrait of George VI disappeared. These coins are trilingual(devnagari, urdu and english) which is unique for a copper coin after uniform coinage( bengal presidency had trilingual copper coins).. Also I love the wreath design on the reverse of the coin

These coins were called 'futa poisha' in Bengal which means coins with hole. Very less seen in Bangladesh. I have been able to manage only one of them. Here coin collection is a bit more difficult.

Then take some from me Islamda. I have I guess 50-60 pieces of these
